Radiographs - Orthodontic/oral surgery

 

Panoramic - Single film taken of entire head.  Show all anatomical bone structures of the upper and lower jaw and teeth.  Typically taken to analyze growth and development, eruption and alignment of teeth, 3rd molars, anatomical structures such as nerves and sinus cavities, and traumatic fractures of the jaw.

Cephalometric - Single film taken of entire head.  Show all anatomical bone structures of the upper and lower jaw and teeth from a lateral view.  Taken to analyze growth and development, and various tooth positions and alignments relative to anatomical landmarks.  Typically taken before and after orthodontic treatment.
